OpenAI’s New Plugin Feature for ChatGPT
OpenAI recently announced the launch of a new plugin feature for its AI chatbot ChatGPT, enabling it to access information from online sources and interact with third-party websites. This new feature is still in alpha stage and will be initially available to a limited number of users before being rolled out on a larger scale.
Features Available with Plugin
The initial 11 plugins that are available include allowing users to check the scores of live sporting events, book an international flight, purchase food for home delivery, use math computer Wolfram for calculations, use business messaging app Slack and connect with other apps like FiscalNote, Shopify, Klarna and Instacart as well as travel search engines Expedia and KAYAK.
Rollout Process
OpenAI said it is gradually rolling out the plugins so that it can assess their real-world use. Users must add themselves to a waitlist in order to access the new feature on Chat GPT Plus.
Safety As A Core Principle
The firm stated that “plugins are tools designed specifically for language models with safety as a core principle”. The aim is to ensure that these plugins are safe before they are deployed on a large scale.
Real World Use And Impact Study
OpenAI said it is initially rolling out the plugins to a small set of users so they can study their real-world use and impact before expanding them on larger access scales.
